Loch Fyne Branding

Loch Fyne | Branding A Tourist Location

To be successful requires alot of passion, dedication and belief not only in one's ability and business but also in the abilities of others, local businesses and initiatives.

The internet has changed how we carry out modern business and has enabled small businesses to have as much of an impact online as large businesses and corporations, this encourages fair trading and rewards those that provide good service, good products and work hard.

This has its benefits, but also has potentially undesireable consequences particularly for rural communities.

Businesses & Tourism Cannot Rely On Visit Scotland

Whilst Visit Scotland continues to promote this fantastic country across the UK and internationally, its objectives are not region specific, which means that no single destination is deliberately promoted above any others.

Unfortunately this is detrimental to low population rural communities, predominantly because urban cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh play host to some of the countries most cultural events, are home to some important tourist attractions, contain some of the most stunning architecture and have a transport infrastructure for inbound and outbound tourists. The sheer number of facilities, colour, media, content and attractions shared between these two alone detract from rural tourism.

In competition with urban tourism, even if tourists decide to look elsewhere for a holiday or excursion many well established and well marketed destinations already exist driving tourism away from areas such as Loch Fyne. Examples of popular rural destinations include Arran, Loch Ness and Skye.

Despite the nearness of Arran, the popularity of Oban, Inveraray and the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, the area of Loch Fyne is still very much underused and underpromoted and so that we may sustain small villages and be more innovative and committed in delivering retail and consumer services I feel we need to put Loch Fyne forward as a true tourist destination.

Not Just A Website

It would be quite straight forward to deliver a website and market Loch Fyne through it, and just act as a beacon for tourism online feeding off of the tail of the Loch Fyne Restaurant, however Loch Fyne has so much more to offer and would make an amazing official tourist part of Scotland.

So our initiative is this;

1. To deliver a website that people can use to learn about and experience Loch Fyne from the comfort of their own homes, that will promote businesses, services, locations and events in a way in which is appealing and stimulates the necessity for people from all walks of life and of an all manner of interests to take time to come to the Loch Fyne area.

2. To put together a marketing strategy and budget from our membership and advertising revenue and actively promote Loch Fyne in the media, through newspapers, magazines, social media, websites, leaflet distribution and should budget extend to it - television.

3. To actively promote Loch Fyne through other websites in our portfolio to generate as much free traffic as possible to promote members, partners, affiliates and information contained within specifically for the generation of sustainable income through enhanced tourism.

4. To share full responsibility for marketing and promotion of Loch Fyne and the immediate area from Visit Scotland and other Scottish Executive appointed bodies for the increased benefit of rural economies and communities.

5. To build a network of people and businesses passionate about Loch Fyne and this part of Argyll, to share stories, news, information and build a sense of community and togetherness in support of delivering sustainability, innovation and sensitive rural development support.

If you are passionate about Loch Fyne and this part of Argyll then why not become a member and be part of our network, list your business, or advertise so we can keep promoting this fantastic part of Scotland!
