 Loch Fyne | Visitor Guide
  • Fishing rates highly as one of the most popular pasttimes along with golf and walking so you'll be pleased to know that there are fantastic opportunities to fish in the most tranquil and beautiful locations in the west coast.

  • Loch Fyne has long been a place for personal and commercial fishing, small potters frequent the loch collecting their pots with shellfish, while some commercial fishing vessels mainly from Tarbert do their day's work.

You'll have to drive and explore to find your best spot for a spot of sea fishing from the coast of Loch Fyne but here are a couple of places to start you off.

    Tarbert

Tarbert is a fishing village and has several immediate places you can try with a spot of sea fishing without using a boat, a popular location is Tarbert's East pier when during summer a row of enthusiasts take to the water with the rods for some mackerel, a lone seal is sometimes seen swimming at close range too - a sure sign of available fish!

Secondly, following the road to the end brings you to a knuckle and offers a great place for solitude and casting into deep water from the very outset with a chance to catch some fish.

    Ardrishaig

Ardrishaig has a long breaking wall with a small lighthouse at the end which protects the Crinan Canal entrance from high waves and difficult weather. The entrance is passed by boats frequently, but not constantly so the opportunity to sit and relax for an hour or two fishing perhaps should not be passed up.

  • Loch Fyne is a sea loch but here are a number of freshwater lochs and lochans on both sides of Loch Fyne on various estates perfect for an afternoon (or morning!) of solitude and fishing pleasure.

A number of estates and fishing opportunities (including permit and non-permit fishing) will be available in due course. Thank you for your patience.
