 Loch Fyne | Visitor Guide
  • There are a number of golf courses to enjoy on the shores of Loch Fyne. With golf and fishing being two of the most popular male past times and sports, you are catered for well with both in the area.

Below is a summary of some of the golf courses that can be found around Loch Fyne and some that are within an hours drive of Loch Fyne.

    Inveraray

To the south of the village on the right hand side (if you are heading south) is Inveraray Golf Club, a neat little course, reasonably flat, but quite tight with good fairways and regular competitions.

    Lochgilphead

A 9 hole golf course half way along the west coast of Loch Fyne at Lochgilphead. Set in the rolling hilly landscape of Mid Argyll, the par 64 course is one of a number of courses in the area.

Pay and play during the week or alternatively book a tee time at weekends.

    Tarbert

Tarbert, another 9 hole golf course, meanders its way up into the hillside with views across West Loch Fyne. The tricky little 9 hole course has some interesting holes, with minimal hazards which is always helpful to new or amateur golfers.

    Honesty box provided.

    Something A Little Further Away

The following golf courses are a short ferry journey, or a short drive, all within one hour travelling time from Tarbert Loch Fyne.

    Carradale Golf Club

On the east side of Kintyre, south of the Loch Fyne area, is Carradale Golf Club which sits just at the back of the Carradale Hotel.

Once again, a fine 9 hole course which leads up and down several hills. One of which provides a superb panoramic view around to Arran and across the village of Carradale.

    Gigha Golf Club

A short drive to Tayinloan and across on the ferry will allow you to play the small and largely flat Gigha golf course. The island is small only several miles long, and the 9 hole golf course has an honesty box for people who would like to play.

    Dunaverty Golf Club

Approximately 1 hour from Tarbert by car, Dunaverty is regarded as the third best golf course in Argyll in superb condition for a municipal and club course with superb views over the bay at the Mull of Kintyre.

This 18 hole course is adventurous and well crafted, certainly recommended.

    The Machrihanish Golf Club

Regarded as one of the greatest natural links golf courses in Argyll, the UK and the world by enthusiasts and golf professionals, the Machrihanish Golf Club is once again, just an hour drive from Tarbert and Loch Fyne, and is worth the effort.

You are not likely to play many links golf courses in the world that are as natural and challenging, and of course rewarding as the original Machrihanish Golf Course, a real true test of golf in ever changing conditions.

    Machrihanish Dunes

The newest addition to the west coast of Scotland, and minutes from the Old Machrihanish Golf Club is the recently appointed Machrihanish Dunes course.

The second 18 hole golf course at Machrihanish, built on a site of special interest, a pay and play course of the highest standards awaits.
